The GSDI-9 conference will take place in the heart of the capital of Chile, Santiago. Chile, a delightful and extensive country with a privileged geography, mainly represented by the Andes, an endless mountain range, which begins in the northern zone, along with an arid desert. Then, it follows its way south, through lakes and interesting volcanoes, going down the way until it reaches the Patagonia, very well known for its huge glaciers, attractive canals, uncountable islands and the majestic Torres del Paine, near the world’s most austral city, Punta Arenas. After thousands of miles of marvellous and interesting landscapes, the Andes reaches the almost unexplored Antarctica, where it ends.
People are warm and friendly, and the weather is tempered (with temperatures of 15ºc and 25ºc during springtime) Along with enjoying its modern restaurants, hotels, shopping centers and outdoor activities, it is recommended to visit museums and the cosy parks. Since Santiago is located near the Pacific coast and the Andes, it offers attractive options for those attendees and accompanying persons willing to explore and visit new areas before and after the GSDI-9 conference.
